The Unmuted Intuitive
The Unmuted Intuitive, a podcast dedicated to the art of **Into Me I See**.
I’m not here to tell you what your gut is saying or give you vague "love and light" affirmations. I’m here to talk about the patterns we repeat, the reflections we try to avoid, and the inconvenient truths that live underneath our relationships and our lives.
As an intuitive reader, I don't just see the "vibe"...I see the framework. This is about the "holy shit" moments of self-reflection, the weird dynamics we play out in love, and the quiet bravery it takes to actually look at yourself without a filter.
If you’re tired of the preachy spiritual lectures and you’re ready for a grounded, slightly spicy, and deeply human look at how we operate, you’re in the right place.
**Into Me I See.** Because you can’t change what you aren’t willing to look at.

The internet has created a lot of confusion about what being an empath really means. In this episode, I talk about the difference between being emotional and truly absorbing the energy around you, and why learning to manage that awareness matters.

Welcome back to the Unmuted Intuitive. I'm Intuitive E, and this is well, my podcast. Um, we're gonna talk a lot about empaths, highly sensitive people, and soulmate connections. Sometimes they'll all be intertwined, sometimes they'll be separate topics. Today I want to talk about debunking the myth of being an empath. Because if you search on Google, it has this kind of watered-down version of what it is, and I see a lot of comments from people saying things like they saw a certain movie and they cried all day and they hate being an empath. And quite honestly, speaking from my own experience being an empath, crying all day is not a sign of being an empath. Crying all day is a sign of being emotional, and that's perfectly fine. But I just want to be clear that that's not the definition of an empath. Um, a a definition or a better example of what an empath would be is somebody who literally absorbs energy, it doesn't have to make you cry, and actually, most empaths I know, including myself, are not big criers at all. Um, we kind of have this wall that we've built to protect ourselves because we feel so many emotions and it can get overwhelming. So you usually learn at a pretty young age how to um I don't know the best way to the we kind of learn how to block it out, even though we're not actually blocking it out. But if you are empaths and you're you can relate to what I'm saying, we block it out to a point where it's difficult to cry because we don't allow ourselves to feel it. Like we carry it, we feel the heaviness of it, we feel you know, the mood changes, we feel the anxiety, the anxiety, the over stimulation, but crying is not an easy thing for us to do, and that's just a a way that we've learned to protect ourselves. Um, when we're in a room full of people, or if there's just a lot of chatter going on around us, or a lot of commotion going on around us, the reason why it affects us more so than the open quote average person is because there's this ability to kind of put ourselves in the other person's shoes. So if you want kind of a visual of what I'm saying, think about it like this uh a non-empath would kind of observe the world um at a 20%, 30% um volume, right? They're not taking everything in, they're not paying attention to everything. They're observing, they can see, they notice, but they're not at like a hundred percent when it comes to what's going on around them. For empath, our volume is all the way up. We're a hundred percent. So even if we're not physically looking at someone, right? And they're having an argument with somebody else, and we can kind of hear them, that we're listening at a hundred percent volume. So it's almost like we are in the argument, if that makes sense. Um, and because it's like naturally we're able to put ourselves in other people's shoes, we pick up the emotions that's behind it. And this applies to everything, this applies to a sad situation, anger. Um, if somebody is just a chatterbox and super hyper, like we get jittery because we're picking up everything at a mega volume, and that's just something that we naturally do. And empaths, they they're constantly saying um they want to shut it off. You're never gonna shut it off. That's never gonna happen. You weren't built that way, you weren't programmed that way, you're you're operating the way that you are for a reason, and it's different reasons for everybody. Um, you know, that's one of the things that I get into with my intuitive reading. So there's no one story that fits everybody, but you're never gonna shut it off. And the more that you try to do it, the more you're gonna feel like a failure, and the more that's gonna affect you because you're an empath. So one good thing to do, you need to try some visualization, um, visualization techniques. Um, I know as it was suggested to me, and it works for me, so I'll share it with you. Um, I picture a a dowel. You know, the dowels that's like locks, and you turn you turn the locks and you could put the codes in with the numbers. I picture myself turning the the knob down, and that helps me to kind of like pull my energy back from 100 to like I like to drop it down to like 30 or 20 because it's too much. Um, that's one tip that you guys can try and it may help. Um, if you can think of anything that's similar to that that will help, you can picture yourself maybe closing a window, closing a door. Um, anything that kind of will give you the image of separating yourself from what's going on around you. Um, and you'll get like immediate relief because the the biggest thing is being able to separate and understand what is ours and what isn't, and this is why so many empaths walk around feeling like they're cursed because they think that it was like their destiny to take on other people's problems, and it's not. Um, it's a beautiful gift that you have to be able to relate and understand and pick up on different emotions and things like that because everybody can't do it, and it makes you such a dope person, but you have to be able to protect your sanity at the same time, so turning it off is it's not a thing, but working with it and around it is, and it's very possible to do that, and you have to be very intentional about it because it's not gonna come natural to you, um, but it absolutely 100% can be done. And another thing, especially in in today's times, it's just so much going on. Uh, even if you're like one of the empaths that try not to watch the news, I'm one of those that I'm I keep it very I try to see what's going on, but I try to limit it um how much I'm watching and how much I'm listening to. But if you're you know alive in this world, you're walking around, you're you know, talking to people, you're gonna hear it. And it's a lot. So even when it comes to just everyday things, you have to be really mindful of uh how you are protecting yourself and your energy, and whatever techniques you can find to kind of just summer things down for you would be helpful because moodiness and overwhelm and anxiety is a is a real thing with us, and to try to carry that as well as you know, functioning in your everyday life. You have children, you're going to work, you have family to deal with, whatever your life situation is, you really want to be the best version that you can be of yourself so that you're not getting overloaded. Uh, because when you're overloaded, you're not good for yourself or anyone else. And you get tired. You get tired of feeling exhausted, and you you get tired of feeling like the walls are closing in on you and like you have no control of it, because you do have control of it, you have control of your life, you just have to find the things that work for you to make you feel better to get you through the day. If talking to too many people during the day is a lot for you, then you can stop answering your phone. If the news is bothering you, don't turn it on. If even for me, um, and I'm running a business, so of course I'm on social media and I'm scrolling, but even for me, scrolling through like TikTok or threads or what have you, eventually it gets to a point where I gotta put the phone down. And it, you know, for me, I think that I'm just picking up on too many emotions. Even if people are posting, you know, you know, positive stories or they're asking questions. A lot of times I I can still feel like whatever they're going through or they're trying to like show up as this like big confident person. Like I can see the lies, and it's it's a lot for me. So I can't even scroll um consistently for too long without that starting to affect me too. So figure out what works for you and what doesn't, and start with that because I think another thing is too, we're not in the habit or in the practice of putting ourselves first, and it's okay to do that. Matter of fact, it's necessary, and don't feel bad about that, it's just not your job to put yourself last. I can guarantee you that's not why you're here. So you can start with baby steps because baby steps are mini goals, and so figure out what works for you and what doesn't work for you. You can always find little ways to alter your day-to-day, uh, just you know, small changes will make a huge difference. So that was the discussion for today. Um, I will be back probably next week. My intention is to upload an episode once a week, and if I'm feeling inspired to do so, I may do more than one. But um, I hope that helps. I'm always available. I'm on Threads Intuitive E. Uh, my DMs are always open if anybody ever has any questions. And until then, keep your boundaries up and stay soft.
